AFARD’s capacity to partner, manage, account and learn is improved.
To ensure AFARD’s organizational effectiveness, investments are made to strengthen both the Board’s policy-making, systems-building and oversight functions and the technical team’s management competencies. This includes capital investments in policy compliance, logistics, accounting, programming, monitoring and evaluation software, office space, and reliable power supply. A research and knowledge management unit will be established, and West Nile Holdings Ltd, the social enterprise wing, will be bolstered for financial sustainability. Additionally, AFARD will pilot new strategies to enhance knowledge and policy compliance in areas such as basic income grants, pension schemes for smallholder farmers, and ICT for development, including weather information management, extension outreach, VSLA digitalization, evidence-based M&E, and market information.
