The Agency For Accelerated Regional Development (AFARD) is an indigenous NGO founded in 2000. Headquartered in Nebbi municipality, AFARD works in West Nile, Lango, and Acholi sub-regions in northern Uganda, as well as some parts of central and western Uganda. AFARD was formed by sons and daughters of West Nile with a mission to unite the people of West Nile to work collaboratively to address the economic and social challenges that had left the region as one of the poorest in the country. By encouraging more professionals to come back to their motherland and support the development initiatives within West Nile, AFARD’s goal is to create sustained development characterised by “Thriving and resilient families in Uganda.

AFARD is a registered non-governmental organisation and affiliate member of several active networks, such as the Uganda NGO Forum, Participatory Ecological Land Use and Management-Uganda Chapter (PELUM), Uganda Water and Sanitation NGO Network (UWASNET), Uganda National Aids Services Organisation (UNASO), and District NGO Forum in Nebbi, Yumbe, Pakwach, Zombo and Moyo Districts; and Nebbi AIDS Services Organisation Network (NASON)
