The future of every nation hinges on its children. Yet, children in the newly created Pakwach district suffer from high incidence of child poverty. In response, Panyango Community Development Project (PCDP), a 6-year project, target 3,100 beneficiaries (2,400 women, 500 children and 200 youth) with a goal, “extremely poor households and youth in Panyango are empowered and duty bearers’ capacities enhanced so that children enjoy their rights, basic needs and live in a community that respects children’s rights by 2025.”
The specific objectives include: (i) To build strong people’s institutions whose members are socially, economically and politically empowered to sustainably provide children basic needs in Panyango sub-county by 2025; (ii) Duty bearers (working with children in Panyango) have increased capacities to meet their obligations to protect children and children are empowered to claim their entitlements by 2025; (iii) 200 vulnerable youth in Panyango are equipped with life and marketable skills that answer community service needs and sustainably increase their household income by 2025; and (iv) AFARD’s capacity is strengthened to manage and account for the project
