SSH4A is one of the 9 African countries project aimed at improving access to sanitation and promoting good hygiene practices to eliminate open defecation. The critical SSH4A components include: (i) Sanitation demand creation; (ii) Sanitation finance; (iii) Hygiene and behavioral change communication; and (iv) WASH governance. By use of Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) Standards, the project focuses on triggering and sustaining behavior change through facility construction and safe hygiene promotion. It is envisaged to achieve Open Defecation Free communities.
