Upscalling PESA Marketing Model Project is a 1-½ year project whose goal is "Strengthening the capacity of PELUM Association members to catalyze market engagement for smallholder farmers and advocate for agricultural policies that support their access to markets." To achieve these objectives, this project focuses on: (i) Establishing agri-business development and market linkages among chain actors and the farmers; (ii) Enhancing the capacities of member organizations to conduct market related advocacy engagements; (iii) Mainstreaming gender across the entire value chain; and (iv) Building the institutional capacity of member organisations in areas of project implementation. It is envisaged to increase smallholder farmers voice and visibility in the market as well as income.

"Chicken is always not kept for income. After my training in programmed hatching. I now rear chicken for cash. Every 3 month I sell at least 100 birds and earn UGX 1.5 till 2 million. With this income, I am able to pay my dowry, build myself a house, and expand the poultry business."
