AFARD empowers vulnerable youth, women, and refugees in West Nile to break the cycle of poverty and build dignified, self-sustaining lives.
Who We Are
The Agency for Accelerated Regional Development (AFARD) is a local, non-profit, non-denominational organization founded in July 2000. We work in Uganda’s West Nile region to support vulnerable and marginalized communities—especially youth, women, and refugees. Our focus is on building resilience, improving health, and equipping people with the skills and opportunities they need to live dignified, self-reliant lives.
We help households improve food security and income through farming support, savings groups, and small business skills.
We promote access to clean water, sanitation, hygiene, and health education to ensure healthier, more productive lives for the people
We support literacy, vocational training, and life skills so that youth, women, and refugees can access jobs and create opportunities.
We strengthen communities to know their rights, raise their voices, and actively participate in building inclusive & dignified futures.

AFARD (Agency for Accelerated Regional Development) is a local, non-profit organization working in Uganda’s West Nile region since 2000 to empower vulnerable communities, especially youth, women, and refugees.
We serve poor, rural households in West Nile that face challenges such as poverty, limited education, lack of safe water, and food insecurity.
You can support by donating, volunteering your time and skills, or fundraising to finance small and large community projects.
We primarily work in the West Nile region of Uganda, which is one of the poorest regions in the country and home to many vulnerable communities.
All donations go directly into community projects such as improving livelihoods, providing access to safe water, enhancing education, and promoting health and wellbeing.
